I had a initial consultation then an operation followed by a final follow up consultation by this Doctor. 1st Consultation - Reviewed issue. Confirmed all medical talk and answered my questions well. Diagnosed me with the said condition. Very polite and approachable. Operation - Briefly spoke upon arrival and explained what he would be specifically doing. Answered a few questions. Then had operation which I obviously didn't actually see him do lol. Then later on next day upon discharge he checked my wound and wished me a good recovery. - Looking at wound it looked nice clean and straight clean cut. Surgery went well as I was able to pass urine after a short delay albeit slowly. I was able to walk a short distance after surgery to the bathroom. No problem. Pain killers worked well but only ibuprofen & paracetamol; nothing stronger required. So tho an operation and with limitations he did a great job to maximise recovery within the perimeters of the event. No DVT and no side effects from operation. A small amount of surgical bruising to be expected occurred. No complications during surgery was advised. Final Consultation - Nice unhurried review. Done a few tests and thus confirmed operation successful. Gave me some advice for the next 2 weeks - i.e no heavy lifting etc. Like me he seemed very pleased with the outcome. Advising a 3% risk of reoccurring. The scar looks neat clean and something to show off. Albeit a scar something to be impressed about. Apart from having an medical issue that needed to be dealt with I am very pleased with the outcome and can now resume my life as near normal. I was walking around on day 2 and day 3+ so I was making a great recovery after the operation. I am also very impressed at the speed of identifying the problem to consultation and having the operation and the recovery.

I have recently had a fairly complicated repair of a hiatus hernia which was very large and had allowed my stomach to pass through into my chest. Mr Hamouda explained that my stomach would need to be put back into its normal position and the hiatus hernia repaired so that the incidence of it happening again was greatly decreased. From the moment I met Mr Hamouda I was struck by his kind, calm manner and professional advice. I had complete trust in him, helped in part, by his explanation of the surgical procedure, he kindly included a drawing (on the back of a sheet of paper in my notes). He is an excellent surgeon who treats his patients like human beings and I would have no reservation in recommending him to anyone needing surgery.

To whom it may concern at the NHS in Maidstone Hospital as well as the South Park team at Sevenoaks. (please forward it to those concerned) I want to tell you about my referral to Mr Mahouda at Maidstone Hospital today 12th July 2016. I had been a bit upset that I’d had to wait so long to be seen by a surgeon and then my appointment had also been postponed by a full month once I’d got one. But after today, I feel I have to congratulate the NHS for providing a really excellent service. I really hope this letter reaches all the parties concerned in order for me to say thank you. So often NHS just gets the negative feedback. Thank you: No 1 Dr Mitchell, my GP at South Park in Sevenoaks, for being concerned enough for my health to push for an appointment to see someone. It is important that everyone is kept fit and well, but even more so for people like me with Parkinsons and Dr Mitchell and others at South Park and Kings College have done just that! No 2 The Maidstone Hospital staff – I was seen within about 5 minutes of arrival by a lovely nurse who weighed me and measured my height – quick efficient and friendly! No 3 Mr Mahouda - After about only another 3 minutes I was invited in by Mr Hamouda, who shook my hand ( yes, I do remark on this courtesy as some medical staff just don’t bother!) Not only was everything efficient and on time but what really impressed me was the professionalism and genuine humanity that I felt from Mr Mahouda the surgeon, who was not too arrogant to explain my condition and options to me and also allowed me time to assess what he had said and to make a decision based on his information. I felt that I was in control and responsible for the decisions for my own body. He also then weighed up the risks of this surgery for a PwP against the importance of the need for surgery and came his conclusion : Surgery would not be the best option. The hernias are big enough paradoxically not to strangle the intestines and the fatty tissue seems to be stable and binding. But he also cautioned me that although it was highly unlikely, he could not guarantee that I would never have a problem with the hernias. He warned me of movement and exercise that I should avoid. I was very happy with this advice as I found it conservative and yet sound. At no time did I feel I was rushed or treated any other way than with care and respect and my opinion mattered. Thank you to all of you. I think you do a difficult job and many patients are too ill and grumpy to tell you the good news stories, but while I am still well and fit and full of the joys, I want to say that if Britain’s NHS carries on like this, it will be fantastic! Gratefully yours

I had a complex operation at Maidstone hospital carried out by Doctor Hamouda. We discussed the procedure and I felt very at ease and confident as the consultation progressed. I felt he conducted himself very professionally regarding a lot of questions I was asking as one would. The operation was successfully. I need a further operation and very happy for him to carry out this surgery.
